After spending many years working cross culturally in one of the poorest states in India, I thought coming back to the UK was just a time to wait. A time to wait for the next trip, a time to wait until I was connected with God again, a time to wait until I could ‘GO’ again.
But, this year, being on the Unreached internship I find that my world is being flipped upside down.
I am digging deeper than ever before, learning more about my relationship with God and what He has in store for me. Learning about humility and how to respect people with different WorldViews. Learning that the way I see things is often wrong.
I am thoroughly enjoying a sense of unravelling and being taken apart and placed back together differently – I feel I am being transformed from the inside out. The training and reading materials are helping with this!
Not only has this year been fruitful so far from personal learning, but I have joined with my Local church to see what Cross Cultural opportunities there are in our local area. What a privilege this is!
So far, we have started a cross cultural play session with some local mums, to connect them into the community.
We had the chance to support a bridging Hotel after the Afghanistan crisis when thousands of refugees fled to the UK.
Relationships have been formed with people from other cultures on my doorstep which have been so life giving.
A highlight for me has been to see the church rise up and get involved.
We needed 25 hanging rails, and hangers for the families in the hotel and within 2 hours this practical need was met. We needed male shoes donating for the Afghan men and within a week a boxful was ready to go. It is exciting to see the church love people they may never meet and reminds me of the early church in Acts, where ‘there was not a needy person among them’ Acts 4:34
I would highly recommend the Internship!
