This video was published by AIM Stories, which is a ministry that seeks ‘to share stories of God’s redemptive work all over Africa in the hopes of seeing Christ-centered, reproducing, culturally-appropriate churches formed among African Peoples.’ They are a ministry under African Inland Mission. Lucky Mogakane was born and raised in a township (a racially segregated urban area where black South Africans were forced to live during the Apartheid era) of South Africa. He now serves on a missionary team in Madagascar, following God’s call for him to go to the unreached.
He recounts his journey of becoming a missionary on the island of Madagascar in the video below.
“We are all commanded to go. And I believe He was also saying it to Africans, not just to Westerners.”
It can be very challenging to choose to obey God’s call instead of what appears to be financial stability through a ‘safe’ career, especially if that means disappointing your family in doing so. But Lucky chose to trust God’s calling, and this trust was found to not have been in vain. In the video above, Lucky describes how he came to be a missionary, and God’s faithfulness in that journey.
Lucky’s story shows us that reaching the unreached isn’t just a call from God for Westerners to answer, but believers of all nations, tribes, and tongues.
